Electrical

Looking for auto electrician in Croydon or surrounding area..?

If your vehicle developed electrical or electronic fault, call us first...

"Our  Team  of  mobile  auto electricians based in Croydon are ready to help. With  advanced diagnostic equipment  and required skills they can pin point to a  faulty component in less than 30minutes.  And if fault can be eliminated within 40min. of arrival time without necessity of any extra parts, then you won’t have to pay anything extra." manager

ETC. ABS. BAS. SRS. EML. TCS. ASC and all other popular sign abbreviations that appears and stays on your cars cluster, indicates a fault with corresponding control unit . If it's not affecting car drive ability - normally it allows driver to finish his journey.

Limp Mode

Other Drive train related faults will limit overall performance of the car in order to protect engine or gearbox from fatal damage. This is called Limp Mode. In limp mode vehicle will still drive but with max. engine rpm limited to 3000rpm. and/or turbo charger function disabled.Automatic transmission drives forward in one (mostly 3rd) or two gears depending on program.

Why Limp Mode activates

When Engine or automatic transmission ECM (Electronic Control Module) registers abnormality in operation, at which condition normal operation is impossible- it switches on limited operability program. It could be faulty sensor generating wrong or no signal, faulty actuator failing to switch on or off the component that it supposed to operate. Also mechanical failure could flag a fault in presence of which ECM starts limited operability program.

What should you do?

Limp mode is safety feature which should be treated seriously. Continue exploitation of vehicle in these conditions might lead to complete destruction of engine or transmission. For example a failing transmission speed sensor will cause rough gear shifting. It might damage clutches and other parts in which case overhauling of whole gearbox will be required. Needless to say cars in limp mode does puts in danger you, the driver and they are very unpleasant to drive.
KMK’s auto electricians can effectively diagnose the fault, trace its origin and carry out repairs.

" Our mobile technicians are geared up for purpose to find and eliminate vast majority of these faults onsite. They are using the most up to date diagnostic equipment which is designed to communicate with specific manufacturer vehicles systems. Our mechanics are experts in British & European cars and small commercial vehicles as most popular vehicle make that we work on is Ford followed by VW & BMW, Renault, Peugeot, Vauxhall, Audi, Mercedes, Jaguar and Japanese Nissan. For every each of these models they are using different computers and interfaces." manager

Brief List of diagnostic procedure

A modern vehicle is as complicated as it can be. All latest innovations are employed by manufacturers in order to improve safety, efficiency and driving comfort at the same time keeping manufacturing cost's as low as possible. During diagnostic procedure our mobile technicians are using they're equipment to communicate with number of different ECU's (Electronic Control Units) in order to extract information like

  1.  Freeze Frame Data ( measured parameters at the time when fault appeared.)
  2. DTC's ( Diagnostic Trouble Codes.)
  3. Live Data ( Current measured parameters of various sensors and actuators.)
  4. Status & Condition of Safety and Security systems.

If engine does not start checkable components are

  • Immobilizer
  • Inertia fuel shut-off (IFS) switch
  • Electrical connections - engine/battery
  • Ignition system
  • Fuel pressure/delivery rate/fuel pressure regulator
  • Fuses/fuel pump relay/engine control relay/relay module/fuel pump
  • Condition of fuel/fuel filter
  • Air intake system/vacuum system - leaks
  • Engine compression
  • Engine management system - connections/wiring
  • Injectors
  • Volume air flow (VAF) sensor/mass air flow (MAF) sensor
  • Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor
  • Crankshaft position (CKP) sensor/camshaft position (CMP) sensor
  • Exhaust system/catalytic converter
  • Engine control module (ECM)

Misfire at idle or constant speed related faults are

  • Ignition system
  • Air intake system/vacuum system - leaks
  • Fuel pressure/delivery rate/fuel pressure regulator
  • Evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve
  • Exhaust coolant temperature (ECT) sensor
  • Injectors
  • Engine compression
  • Engine management system - connections/wiring
  • Engine control module (ECM)
